Hosting
* Attendee minimums and maximums vary based on type of clinic and venue accomodations. *
Clinic hosts attend at no charge and
receive 10% of gross to cover any expenses. If handlers/workers are
determined to be needed (by pre-arrangement
between me and the host) for large groups, they too attend at no
charge. Hosts are responsible for
making sure there are sufficent numbers of horses for demonstration
trims (may be all their own horses).
* The minimum
number
of clinic participants varies by clinic location and format. * Clinic fees
will be
paid in advance through my website with PayPal, or by mailing a check
by the deadline for pre-registration. * The host is
responsible for securing an appropriate forum. Most host use their own
farm. *The host
should greet all of the attendees and help them settle in. Any
last minute attendees fees will be collected by the clinic host on site
(i.e. "at the door") * A large part of the clinic is lecture. I will need an indoor location with enough space for a classroom type environment. (Keep in mind that metal barn roofs can be very loud in the rain). * I will be using a projector with my laptop and will need adequate extension cords/plug-ins and table space. We will need to be able to block out enough light from the room for best viewing. * There should
(obviously) be adequate restroom facilities. ;) * The
trimming/live
horse portions must be in an area large enough for everyone to have
room to gather round to see
me work, but not so closely packed together that the horse feels
crowded and trapped. Keep in mind that all horses have a keen primitive
survival instinct and some will perceive the many humans crowded around
as
a pack of predators, crouched and ready to pounce. Don't expect too
much from the horses in that regard, respect their nature. Because of
this, the demo horses selected should have the appropriate temperament. * If the
forum/attendee volume is too large for all to gather around safely,
appropriate large screen/video projection equipment must be available
for all attendees to benefit from the demonstration. * The clinic
host is
in charge of the hour long lunch break. If there are nearby
restaurants, the host will provide a list of local options to
participants. Some hosts may choose to provide
lunch to attendeed at a minimal fee. * Many hosts who
provide space for participant horses, charge a fee for stall/paddock
space. That will be between the host and the attendees. * For clinics
offering cadaver trimming/dissection, cadavers and related equipment
will be provided by me. In other words, if we have to buy feet, it
won't come out of your 10% ;) Thank you for your interest in hosting!! |
